Dear Affiliates,
Summer is a busy time for your coordinating committee. We held our annual face-to-face meeting in June. We spent some time during the two day meeting brainstorming ideas for topics and speakers for the 2016 national convention, our October Web chat, and Perspectives. We also discussed SIG 1's role in contributing content about language and learning issues on ASHA's public page and resource pages for speech-language pathologists (SLPS). Most of our discussion was guided by posts that have come up on the SIG 1 Community over the past 12 months. For example, we have invited Sean Redmond, November 2014 Perspectives issue editor, and several of his issue's contributing authors to address your questions about the assessment and intervention of grammar. Our decision to focus the October Web chat on grammar was informed by questions and requests posted on the Community. More details about this free Web chat will be available in September. Thanks to all of you who contribute questions, comments, and requests on the Community. We are eager to hear from you—either on the Community or by a direct email to one of your coordinating committee members.
