Does October make you as glad to be a speech-language pathologist as it does me? ByOctober of every year, the flurry of a new school calendar is settling into a daily rhythm. Theheat of summer abates and we find ourselves reaching for the first sweater of the season. Thecolors of the turning leaves provide a changing visual display as we busily shuttle from activityto activity. October is well-being and optimism.
October is also time for the Special Interest Group (SIG) 1 annual live online chat. Thisyear’s online chat will explore the topic of parent-implemented early interventions. Threeauthors from our July 2013 issue of Perspectives will be available to discuss questions andcomments with online participants for 2 hours on October 8, 2013. Elaine Weitzman, executivedirector of The Hanen Centre, will be joined by Julia Stoner, professor of special education atIllinois State University, and Hedda Meadan-Kaplansky, assistant professor of specialeducation at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. If you are a veteran of our liveonline chats, you know that they are a great way to get information through informalexchanges with other professionals.
