This issue of Perspectives focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to early intervention. I’m sure you’ll find that the content is not only interesting and current, but also well-documented and practical in its clinical implications. In addition to highlighting this important topic, I want to bring you up-to-date on exciting new opportunities to collaborate with your colleagues and to contribute to, and expand your knowledge in, the field of Language Learning and Education.
This issue brings evidence-based early intervention information to our readers. Special Interest Group 1 extends its gratitude to the issue’s Guest Editor, Dr. Paula M. Rhyner. Dr. Rhyner is associate dean for Graduate Studies and Research in the College of Health Sciences and professor in the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She has brought together an issue focused on the important topic of how to foster interdisciplinary collaborations to effectively serve infants, toddlers, and preschoolers who have, or are at risk to have, language impairments. Our contributors are engaged in innovative professional collaborations that incorporate research, teaching, and service delivery and offer new perspectives on best practices in early intervention. We are glad to highlight this important topic and support affiliates looking for current information to assist them in their work with this vulnerable population.
