Welcome.
In this my first column of 2011, I am pleased to welcome you all as affiliates of a Special Interest Group 1. With the new year, we officially became a Group, or SIG, not a Division, in the changeover to the new system approved by the ASHA Board of Directors last fall. This was the culmination of a process of determining the best way to carry the Special Interest program into the future. Just as a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, we hope to retain our best qualities with the new nomenclature. We also look forward to the continued evolution of the Special Interest program and hope to seize new opportunities for ways to continue our mission. As always, we plan to continue bringing you high quality continuing education, advocacy, and professional networking in developmental language disorders.
