As fall progresses, many members of ASHA, including affiliates of Division 1, begin to anticipate and make plans to attend the annual Convention. The 2000 ASHA Convention, which is scheduled for November 16–19 in Washington, DC, provides much for the Division 1 affiliates to anticipate. As has become tradition within the division, the October issue of the newsletter serves as the pre-Convention issue in which some of the sessions in child language learning and education are highlighted. The Convention preview that is included in this issue is intended to stimulate Division 1 affiliates’ interest in and anticipation of the ASHA Convention in general and the child language sessions in particular. To that end, this issue includes descriptions of several sessions that address relevant topics within the field of child language. Additionally, some of the scheduled sessions are those that are sponsored by the Division 1.
