My dear colleagues and friends, this is my last message as Coordinator for Division 1 as I will be ending my term on December 31, 2004. As I was reflecting on my experiences with Division 1, I realize I first became involved when there were two separate divisions in the early 90s, Division 1 and 10, that eventually merged to become Division 1, Language Learning and Education. I have seen some tremendous growth and outstanding activities offered over the years because of the dedication and commitment of each of you to make a difference in the lives of children with speech and language disorders and to engage in research that guides our practice. I am forever grateful to each of you for allowing me to participate and, I hope, facilitate some of that growth and for teaching me much about what it means to be a speech-language professional. To my other Steering Committee (SC) members—I thank you for your guidance and support and for the many volunteer hours of service to the Division. As I say good-bye, two others on the SC are ending their terms as well, Ron Gillam and Robin Stall. Ron supported our listserve discussions in the past and has served as treasurer and Associate Coordinator over the last year, helping me in many ways to meet our mission. Robin has done a terrific job as our Continuing Education Administrator, providing CE opportunities for many of you through Perspectives, our Convention Programs, Clinical Skills Workshops and other professional development activities. I know you will join me in wishing them well.
